Street renamed and monument unveiled in honor of Lt. Dahlem
A section of Northwest 17th Street between West University Avenue and Eighth Avenue was renamed Lt. Corey Dahlem Drive on Friday, Dec. 7. The renaming was in honor of Dahlem, a 22-year-veteran Gainesville Police officer who was killed by a drunken driver the night of UF’s second men’s basketball national championship in April.

Former World War II prisoner of war to speak at fall commencement

Offices will be closed on Dec. 24
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The university will close Monday, Dec. 24. This decision was based on the proximity of the date to the normal university holiday which runs from Dec. 25 through Jan. 1. The extra day of closing will allow a significant cost savings by reducing energy consumption over the 11-day holiday closing period.
