Submission Information
News releases and/or story ideas should be submitted at least four weeks in advance of the event and/or desired publication date. Please send all submissions to insideuf@ufl.edu. Be sure to include contact information, such as name, e-mail and phone.
News releases and story ideas are encouraged, but a submission does not guarantee publication. All editorial-content decisions are made by InsideUF editorial staff and are based on news value and interest to the entire university community. Submissions are subject to editing for length, clarity and appropriateness for publication.
Category Information
The following general content and length guidelines apply for the print edition. Guidelines for the online edition are more relaxed.
Top Stories – Feature stories are typically written by InsideUF staff (rather than submitted by others). These stories are generally about an upcoming or recent event, faculty/staff/student news, etc. One larger story is 325 words, and a smaller story is 150 words. Longer versions of the stories, if applicable, will be posted online.
Note This – Administrative announcements: 30-55 words.
Calendar – Items are selected from the UF calendar. Submit to the calendar by clicking “submit event” in the calendar section of the InsideUF page or go directly to http://calendar.ufl.edu/submit/.
UF Voices – Guest editorial: 150 words. A head-shot photo of the writer is requested. See photo requirements below.
Award Announcements – Due to the vast amount of campus awards, only major award announcements of faculty/staff/students are requested for the print edition: 65 words per announcement. Head-shot photos are encouraged. See photo guidelines below.
Photos – Photos should be at least 4 inches by 6 inches in size and 300 dpi resolution for the print edition. For the Web edition, images no larger than 512 KB and 400 pixels wide are desirable.
